How I Organized My Yarn

This year my aim is to organize and use space effectively. One area that desperately needed some cleaning up was my yarn stash. I have a plastic drawer unit that I keep all of my yarn in, but it was a mess from the beginning. At first, it was just a place to throw my leftovers. Now that I'm trying to use up my extra yarn, I want to be able to pick one out without having to dig through a tangled mess.

Here is a drawer before I reorganized it...

If "stress" was a physical being, it would probably look something like this.

I took everything out and separated each yarn ball, skein, and scrap. I wound up the smaller amounts of yarn into balls. It didn't take too long and it was a better option than having a bunch of loose piles thrown together.

Then for the extra small scraps I used an idea I found on Pinterest. I found a pin where scraps of yarn were wrapped on clothespins. I thought it was an excellent idea so I grabbed some clothespins and did the same. It made a huge difference!

Now my drawer is so much more tidy and easy to look through.

I'll be able to easily find what I need and focus on creating cool pieces with my yarn instead of digging through a chaotic mess.
